Recipe experiment: Ray Wings

I love fish.

Anyone that knows me knows I love fish.

I cannot live without eating fish (I probably could, but I'm going for drama here!). Even when I tried to have a vegetarian month a couple of months ago, I gave into eating fish. And here I am thinking about having a vegan month!!

Anyway, recently in the supermarket *cough* ASDA *cough* I shop in I discovered at the fish counter they sell something called 'ray wings'. Being £9.48/kg I feel this was a bit pricey due to:

a) Wouldn't know how much to buy if I've never tried it before,
b) Never tried it before so wouldn't know if I'd like it,
c) Wouldn't know what to do with it.

However to my enjoyment there was a ray wing being sold in the reduced chilled section for 90p! So naturally I grabbed it and proceeded to purchase, bring home, cook etc and this is my result:

Not much to look at but if you love fish too, and spice, then you're going to want and try this.

Ingredients

1          ray wing
1 tsp    Schwartz's Gourmet Garlic Pepper
1 tsp    La Chinata's Hot Smoked Paprika Powder
1 tbsp  Olive oil
1          Lemon (Optional)

Method

1) Heat olive oil in frying pan (or wok) until beginning to warm.

2) Place ray wing into pan and cook for two to four minutes on each side.
3) Sprinkle half the garlic pepper and paprika powder on the ray wing facing up.
4) Flip ray wing and cook for a further two to four minutes, until the flesh starts going white.
5) Repeat stage 3 - 4
6) If using, squash some lemon juice on to the ray wing, flip, cook for 30 seconds and repeat.
7) Serve with a slice of lemon

If I were to (and let's face it, I probably will) cook this again I'd serve it with some steak chips and salad.
